I said I wouldn’t do it again, but I got greedy and took on two assignments simultaneously. As you can see, I’ve been kind of a ghost in the blogsophere as of late.
It’s not that I have stopped researching the old stories. I continue to receive comments on some of the older posts from netizens with fresh perspectives, disputes and additional knowledge. To all of you who dropped by during the previous twelve months, thanks for your input.
I’m taking my sweet (and precious) time with the current series on the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King. As you can see, it’s a large topic that will probably conclude the blog, save for a couple of parting shots that I have planned.
During the past year, the topic of conspiracy has received quite the press, for reasons not hard to understand. With the election of a grossly unpopular US President, the methods, or means, of that ascendancy have received a critical eye from many on diverse sides of the political spectrum. In all of this, the effect that conspiracism has had on recent events has, in my humble opinion, been misunderstood, in some cases overstated, in other cases understated, and in most cases, vilified.
I understand, and sympathize with those bearing the torch of anti-conspiracism. At the same time, I wonder how much they realize that they played, and continue to play, a signification role in the propagation of destructive narrative that preserves traditionally institutional power.
But, that’s for the end of the blog.
Suffice it to say that although the writing has decreased, the research still marches on, and takes a good deal of my off-duty time. I’ve snuck a peak at some of the minor conspiracy hypotheses percolating around the ‘Net. To name a few, there’s Polybius, the story of a mysterious video game allegedly created by some nebulous intelligence operation for mind control and child sex trafficking. While the story is most likely a hoax, it’s not a clumsy one. Thus, it's the origin of the probable hoax that interests me at the present time.
There was also the Talmud Shud (warning: disturbing image link) story coming from Australia, and the Isdal Woman tale coming out of Norway. Although taking place twenty-two years apart, they appear to be quite similar in many respects. Both individuals involved were never identified, and their actions give considerable indication that they perished while executing activities on behalf of some government intelligence agency, or organized crime syndicate (assuming disparity).
Of course, these stories, if true, would probably be important only to the families and friends of those adversely affected. More important would be the ongoing fallout of the Ed Snowden leak, information from which supports a case for suppression of subversive communication more than it does the suppression of a national security threat. Even more important would be the increasingly tactical role played by WikiLeaks and its co-founder, Julian Assange. Considering some of his far-right backers, one has to wonder if the current support of Western nationalism extends beyond what we saw in the Trump presidential campaign.
I don’t know what I’ll do with this new research any more than I knew what I would do with the old research when I started this blog. I’m still pondering whether or not I should (more accurately, could) produce a podcast of this material, or use it to support someone else’s podcast. That’s the wave of the future, it seems, along with Skype, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and a bizillion other platforms that I don’t currently inhabit.
I have other stories that I want to tell. It’s just that I’m not sure if this platform will allow me tell them in the best way possible. Then too, I'm not sure I can get the time, energy or money for something grandiose. So for now, I'll have to settle on pondering and posting here.
Okay. It’s back to the salt mines. For all you who still come here, you’re presence and input is always welcome. Please forgive my slowness to respond. It’s not that I don’t value you. It’s just that I’m plumb tired most of the time, these days.*
